RADON MITIGATION

Madison Radon Testing, LLC is a NRPP-certified, independent radon testing business. We do not sell or install radon mitigation systems.

When a building’s average radon level is 4.0 pCi/L or higher, the EPA recommends having a radon mitigation system installed. (An average of 4.0 pCi/L is 10 times more radon than is found in outdoor air.)

The most common method used to reduce the amount of radon inside a home is called “sub-slab depressurization”. As you can see in the diagram to the right, a PVC pipe and fan are used to suck up radon that’s located below a home’s foundation and blow it out above the roof line. The wind then carries the radon away from the home.

A great source for learning more about radon and locating a certified, radon mitigation specialist is www.LowRadon.org. LowRadon.org is maintained by Wisconsin's Department of Health Services.

You can fix a radon problem. Even very high levels can be reduced to acceptable levels.

This is my favorite YouTube video that shows and explains how a radon mitigation system is installed.
